Welcome to
Festive Moonlight
our story
About Us
Festive Moonlight opened in 2018 after the brand was spotted while attending a gift fair overseas. It was something I knew had potential but didn’t know that it would one day lead to us to being the South African distributor. It started with a small import, a few friends who posed with glitter on for a photo shoot and a few pop-up markets. Once our products were launched at the odd market we were blown away by how many little tubes of glitters we could sell and how many South Africans of all ages loved UV reactive, glitter and glow-in-the-dark products. Since then, not only has the sparkle spread but so has the word…
Our products have a wide and diverse appeal across many market sectors. From clubs and festivals around the globe to fancy dress, bachelorette parties, dance competitions, New Year events and Halloween Parties to Glamorous Balls using our exclusive glitter collection. Our huge lineup of products means you don’t need to make an excuse to wear it!
We take pride in knowing that our products are made in the UK, cosmetically certified, vegan (not tested on animals) and stock a range of biodegradable products.
About Me
I have always had a passion for entrepreneurship. Whilst studying my Bachelor of Education degree, I started my own online educational toy shop. Whilst networking and travelling overseas, I came across this UK brand. After trying the products and hearing more about the values behind their business, I knew there was a gap in the market and these products were needed in South Africa.
Upon returning after my travels, I decided to do my first import of stock and I was blown away by the interest from all kinds of sectors.
During Covid, my business was quiet for obvious reasons but I was lucky enough to ‘survive’ and push through due to my full-time teaching job and toy business. One of the most exciting moments in this journey was when life slowly started to return to normal ‘after’ Covid and I did an import of face jewels as people started to go out again.
I sponsored an advert on Instagram and I was blown away by the interest. My Instagram was overflowing with messages, enquiries and orders. From then on, I was approached by several different DJs, influences and event companies who were also extremely interested in my products. Everyone I spoke to had a different idea about how they could use my product, and where I should be selling it.
To be honest, the only way I can explain it, is like a light switch had been turned on. In June 2022 I went from having a small side business to hundreds of messages on Instagram, and Whatsapp, being asked to do events in different provinces, brand ambassadors contacting me, wholesale enquiries and events.
Due to the amount of interest shown and the positive feedback I received, I decided to make my next big move. I am proud to say I am the Exclusive South African distributor of all Paintglow and Glitter me up products. It has been an absolute whirlwind few months with little sleep but here I am in September 2022 launching my online store.
The most frequently asked question is, how do you do it? How do you teach full time, run two online businesses, events and everything else in between? My go-to answer is, I am not quite sure how I do it. I think between encouragement from others, my passion and determination I make it happen. I am so passionate about the business side of life and love teaching. Power naps and organic energy drinks get me through most days too.
I could not do it without my support system. I am lucky to have a circle of friends and family who encourage me daily. I grew up with my dad, Ross Cowing being a passionate businessman and he has always had ‘his fingers in many pies’. He has backed me every step of the way and has always been there to answer any questions and give valuable advice. He has inspired me like no other and I am thankful for every piece of advice he’s given me because without him believing in me, I wouldn’t be where I am today. My Momager might not be seen on the sales side but she is a Wonder Woman behind the scenes. There aren’t enough hours in a day for me to do half the things that happen behind the scenes and without her being a call away my service would be a lot slower.
I am excited to see where this venture takes me as it grows and the opportunities that lie ahead.
It is true when they say, “Every time you buy something from a small business an actual person does a happy dance”. I am that person and I appreciate your support, spreading the word and supporting local businesses.
Spread the sparkle… #letsgetfestive
All my love
